Q: When did you start to play music? A: I started to take piano lessons when I was in second grade . Of course I learned all the classical pieces. But my piano teacher was very creative and gave me chances to explore different types of music at such a young age. Q: When was your first performance? A: Actually I lived in Q: Were you singing then? A: No, I wasn't. I played the guitar. I think everyone had a desire to play the guitar to be popular while in school. But I was already writing songs then. Q: How did your fashion style change over the years? A: As you know, I was in a duo called Amaterase for seven years until we decided to stop in January, 2006. So we had many styles and costumes. When we first started, we wore a hemp material costume with an orange sash around our waists with accessories made of antlers. Then, we had black kimono style outfits . We always sweated a lot during performances, so we had special kimono made with water proof coating. We also had red enamel armors and that was really hard to move around with. We wanted to fuse the traditional Japanese aspects of fashion with futuristic style with ethnic elements . We have used LED on our clothes too. Back then we had long hair. After that, we had some black enamel costumes but we were half naked with leg warmers that had big pom-pon. Q: What is the theme for your new costume? And how do you make your costumes? A: I made the new costume with the image of a vagabond out of RPG games . For me, I think of music and fashion together. So I talk with a designer about my songs first and then we work as a team to come up with new costumes. We usually find materials that we like and create from nothing, but we also enjoy altering the clothes we bought from stores. Q: How do you make your music? And what kind of songs do you want to make in the future? A: Usually, I think of the title and the ending of the songs first. Then, I think about the rest of the story and melody before adding the lyrics. Themes for my music are nature and love. I might say “you and me” in one song, but you is actually nature and me is love. I hope to make music without boundaries for all living creatures and sounds pleasant for all people. I want my music to be an international language like Esperanto Language. Q: At last, do you think the visual –fashion bands have changed recently including yourself as well as other bands? A: For me, I used to wear a lot of makeup and flashy outfits. But recently, I prefer natural styles to express myself more directly. I want fans to see who I am and understand my emotions as I go through them. Life is like a live show. ☆ Information☆ Daishi will start a new band with three other members. Amaterase will have a break after Daishi-Solo Project on October 25th and will concentrate on a new band.Please enjoy Amaterase Daishi’s performance!!
